Rolling into 2021 feels good doesn’t it. I usually share my New Year’s Resolutions in this edition. They feel a little dif- ferent this year. Not bad, not better than last, just different. My resolutions start with self-reflection and this year, lent itself to a plan driven by anticipation. What will life look like this year?

When I was offered the position of Club Director three plus years ago, I found myself on a whole new level of busy. I was learning my new job, executing our game plan and adding the new dimension of travel to my career. It was a very fast paced lifestyle. Fast forward to March of 2020 when the world came to a screeching halt. I never thought things would escalate to the level it has and I thought we would be getting back to normal much quicker. I kept planning Club activities and travel and postponing and then planning some more so my resolutions revolve around resil- ience and a positive attitude. Resilience is woven into our fabric, that ability for us to bounce back. History is a great tool to help us remember and move forward. We remember exactly where we were and what we were doing on 9/11/01 when the first plane hit the World Trade Center. Now we add the pandemic announcement on March 11, 2020 to our life story. As with many tragedies we are changed but perhaps stronger because of it. I will em- brace this next year with enthusiasm, courage, confidence and the most important, a positive attitude. Our comeback story will once again be one of resilience, coming together and our ability to start our engines again. We will stay up to date on the very latest news, mandates and use overall common sense as we evolve into 2021. We are working on new financial wellness events and webinars as well as other fun common interest sessions to keep us together and active, virtually for the time being.

Does your License Fly? NEW identification requirements for airline travel

If you fly commercially, you’ll either need a REAL ID license or ID or another acceptable form of ID such as a US passport. What is the REAL ID Act? REAL ID is a federal act focusing on anti-terrorism, fraud protection, and security specific to the production of driver’s licenses and ID cards that control access to Federal facilities requiring iden- tification to enter, Federally regulated commercial aircraft and Nuclear power facilities. REAL ID-compliant cards are marked with a star at the top of the card. If you’re not sure, contact your state driver’s license agency on how to obtain a REAL ID compliant card. For information by state, including where to obtain a REAL ID, visit the DHS REAL ID website and click your state on the map. Due to COVID-19, the deadline to get your REAL ID (gold star) has been extended to Oct. 1, 2021. Go to iowadot.gov/mvd/realid to see what documents you need to get a gold star on your ID.
