As you are getting to know me a [little] better you’re probably figuring out that I sometimes just say whatever is on my mind. Remember

World Jewelry and Fashion Ac- cessories Show. Pinch me I must be dreaming. If you have not been with us recently please take a look at our calendar and pick some- thing fun to end 2018. We are trying something new this month at the Heritage Center. We added a dessert re- ception to The Rodney Marsalis Philadelphia Big Brass perfor- mance on Friday, November 9. Many of you know from past ex- perience that the Heritage Center never disappoints when it comes to sweet treats. Active duty and retired military get in free. Come with us and check it out. There is still room for you to join us to see Elf The Musical at the Fireside Theatre on Nov 14. It’s my favorite! This is the perfect outing to kick start the holiday spirit. To keep you in the spirit check out our Branson trip for the Christmas shows and much more. You will not be disappointed. Have a gratefully blessed Thanksgiving, and an amazing holiday season.

when I told all of you I love cutting grass? Well I take it back. When’s the last time you remember cutting grass in late October? What in the world is up with that? And the rain, oh my! If we get as much snow as we did rain we are going to have to add a lot of trips to warm destinations in the very near future. Football is in full swing and another love of mine. My son plays for the Iowa State Cyclones. It has been a special fall for us as he is a senior and is finishing his college ex- perience. We are blessed by the tremendous people we have met along the way. I bring this up to thank you in advance for your patience and understanding when you see my “out of office message” while I attend his games. September and October were a whirl- wind. The club started the month in Iceland. If this is not on your list of “must see” loca- tions you may want to rethink that. Words cannot give this destination the justice it de- serves. In September we also learned a little more about cooking at the Hotel Kirkwood culinary lab. We visited Cedar Ridge Winery and Distillery. We went on an amazing Mys- tery Trip and ended the month off to Fort Atkinson to see Grease at Fireside Theatre. October kept us a little closer to home with some local performances. We also had a great day on the mighty Mississippi aboard the Celebration Belle , visited the New Melleray Abbey, and ended the month at the Trans-

Sensational Washington April 23-28, 2019

O n day one we transfer to the air- port for our flight to Seattle, Washington. Upon arrival we will travel to the waterfront town of La Conner where we will check into the La Conner Country Inn for two nights. A welcome dinner is included at the Oyster & Thistle Restaurant. (D) Day 2: Today we journey into the heart of Washington’s Skagit Valley for their annual Tulip Festival! Only the Netherlands produces more tulips than the Skagit Valley. Tulip Town will be our first stop offering a variety of display gardens including a 10-acre field planted in stripes of color, and a trolley ride around the fields. Next we visit Roozen- Gaarde, the largest tulip farm in the United States. Lunch is included at the Calico Cup- board Café & Bakery in Anacortes. The rest of the afternoon and evening are free for you to explore delightful La Conner. (B, L) Day 3: This morning we board the Chinook, our private motor yacht, for a cruise through San Juan Islands. These beautiful islands are located off the scenic Pacific Northwest Coast. Our ultimate destina- tion today is Vancouver Island. We will take a short walk to the Inn at Laurel Point, a lovely ocean-side resort, where we will check in for one night. (B, L) Day 5: Our day begins with a city tour. Then enjoy Butchart Gardens, 55 acres of the world’s most magnificent gardens. There will be time to enjoy all of the beauty before we depart for the Fairmont Empress Hotel. You’ll feel like you’ve stepped back in time as we experience an authentic Victorian High Tea. We’ll be treated to live music, tableside tea service and delicious English sandwiches and pastries in this stunning hotel. Then it’s back to Victoria harbor to board the Victoria Clipper, a high-speed catamaran, for our trip to Seattle. Shrines of Quebec June 16-22, 2019

D ay 1: Montreal. Today we arrive in Montreal. Old in soul, but young at heart, Montréal has a storied past that includes First Nations settlement, French colony and a British stronghold. Montréal has blossomed into one of the world’s most modern and dynamic metropolises. See its European heri- tage shining through in the beautiful 18th- century buildings and cobblestone streets. (D) Day 2: Montreal. Today we explore the rest of the city including a visit to our first shrine–Saint Joseph’s Oratory. Founded in 1904, Saint Joseph’s is the largest shrine in the world dedicated to Saint Joseph. Our day continues with a visit to the Olympic Park and Botanical Gardens. Rediscover the history of the Olympic Park since the Games were here in 1976. The Montréal Botanical Garden, one of the city’s jewels, is recognized as one of the world’s greatest. Tonight we enjoy dinner with entertainment at a traditional “Sugar Shack” or Sucrerie. (B, D, E) Day 3: Trois Riviere. Today we leave Montreal for Quebec City along the St. Law- rence River. We visit the lovely village of Trois Riviere (three rivers) for lunch and visit the second of our five shrines of Quebec. Our Lady of the Cape Shrine is Canada’s National Shrine to the “Blessed Mother.” Lastly, we travel to Quebec City, UNESCOWorld Heri- tage site. We’ll walk its cobblestone streets before checking into our hotel for two nights and enjoying dinner together. (B, D) Day 4: Quebec City. Today we visit the Plains of Abraham, the site of many clashes for supremacy between the French and British, the park is the scene of the 1759

Conquest, which changed the fate of North America. We have time for shopping and strolling the cafes around lunch time and visit the Petit Champlain quarter. While there we visit the third shrine. The Basilica-Cathedral Notre-Dame de Québec is now an Historical Monument of Québec and Canada and stands in the Historic District of Old Québec, part of the World Heritage List of UNESCO. It stands out as the first cathedral, the cradle of French civilization and the Catholic faith to be founded north of Mexico. This afternoon we take a short ride out of town along the St. Lawrence River to Montmorency Falls and visit our fourth shrine, the Shrine of Sainte-Anne-de-Beaupré, the second oldest pilgrimage site in North America. It’s dedicated to Saint Anne, grandmother of Jesus Christ. Dinner is on our own. (B) Day 5: Saguenay. Today we head north to Lac Saint-Jean and the Saguenay river. On the way, we will immerse ourselves in the tradi- tions of the Huron-Wendat Nation inWendake. Then on to the last shrine in the woods of northern Quebec. It’s located at Lac-Bouchette, Ermitage Saint-Antoine de Lac-Bouchette. Then onto the Kingdom of Saguenay-Lac- Saint-Jean! Lake Saint-Jean is a huge inland fresh-water sea with more than 210 km of mostly sandy shoreline and surrounded by vast fields of wild blueberries. (B, D) Day 6: Fjord Cruise. Today we take to the sea! We cruise the incredible Saguenay Fjords from Saguenay to L’anse-Saint-Jean. The 62 mile long Saguenay Fjord is the south- ernmost navigable fjord in North America. We will view majestic cliff faces and small

villages on either side of the river. We take time for lunch on our own before driving back to Quebec City for our final night. Enjoy a special farewell dinner in Old Quebec. (B, D) Day 7: We will have time for touring and shopping in Old Quebec. This afternoon we will board our flight in Que- bec City for home. Walk the grounds and see Monet’s charming residence, and the flower and water gardens captured in his masterpieces, or join a guided visit to Bizy Castle–called “Normandy’s Versailles” for its magnificent courtyard, water garden, and stables. While sailing, enjoy a traditional French lunch of authentic French crêpes, followed by a pas- try demonstration. This afternoon, enjoy a beautiful cruise to the picturesque town of Les Andelys. Take a guided walking tour of one of France’s most picturesque spots on the Seine, or join a guided hike up to the castle ruins of Château Gaillard–historic home of King Richard the Lionheart. Overnight cruise this evening to Caudebec. (B, L, D) Day 4: Caudebec. See the churches, cherry Orchards, and white cliffs of Normandy. O n day one we will fly into Boston’s Logan airport. Our Tour Guide and deluxe Motorcoach will greet us upon arrival. Depending on time we may do some Boston touring before heading to our hotel for the next two nights. Day 2: Boston. Today we enjoy a city tour of Boston, the capital and largest city in Massachusetts and one of the nation’s oldest cities spanning a history of 350 years in a distance of less than three miles. We have free time for lunch on our own in the 150 year-old restored buildings of the famous Quincy Market, which faces Faneuil Hall and houses a cheerful and colorful confusion of chic shops, specialty pushcart vendors, cafes, restaurants, and street performers. We will see the famous Freedom Trail winding its way through the downtown area and many historic sites including the Old State House, Faneuil Hall, the Boston Commons and the Public Gardens. We stay in Boston for the night. (B, D) Day 3: Maine to NH. After break- fast we are off to Maine and to our next two nights in the lakes and mountains of New Hampshire. We travel along the Massachu- setts and New Hampshire coastlines. Stop in the seaside village of York to enjoy a traditional Maine Clam (Lobster) Bake; clam chowder, clams, mussels, lobster (or Hickory BBQ chicken), corn on the cob, and potatoes– a real New England tradition. Kancamagus Highway, one of New England’s most spectacular scenic highways to witness the fall foliage season. We spend the night at the Omni Mount Washington Hotel with dinner on our own. (B, Lobster Lunch) Day 4: NH to Vermont. This morn- ing we will take the Cog Railway to the top of Mount Washington where we can see four states–Maine, Massachusetts, Vermont and New Hampshire. Then we head through the north country into Vermont and to Montpe- lier where we will see the gold-leafed dome of the Capitol Building, and the Morse Farm Sugar Shack. Our hotel for the next two nights is in Essex Junction, Vermont. Dinner is included this evening. (B, D) Day 5: Vermont. We travel to Bur- lington and the Stowe area to the Vermont Teddy Bear Company, we dare you to visit the gift shop and not buy one. Lunch is on our own in downtown Burlington, then on to Waterbury for a couple of great afternoon culinary experiences. First the Cold Hollow Cider Mill, then to the famous Ben & Jerry’s ice cream plant. This evening we take a din- ner cruise on Lake Champlain. (B, D) Day 6: Sturbridge, Massachusetts. This morning our destination is Sturbridge Village a post revolutionary living history village. Along the way we will enjoy a visit to the Yankee Candle Shoppe. A trip to Old Sturbridge Village, the largest outdoor history museum in the Northeast, is a journey through time to a rural New England town of the 1830s. Visitors are invited into more than 40 original buildings, each carefully

researched, restored, and brought to the museum site from towns throughout New England. This evening for our farewell dinner we’ll enjoy an authentic New England dining experience. (B, D) Day 7: Today we drive back to Boston and fly home from our New England Fall Foli- age tour with many fine memories of a bygone era. Depending on our flight time, we may have time to enjoy touring enroute back to Boston. Branson November 26-30, 2018

T here is still space for this spectacu- lar trip to Branson, but time is running low so call today to reserve your spot! Day 1: We start our trip on motor coach to Kansas City. Our first attraction will be the Arabia Steamboat Museum. Next is dinner at Jack Stacks BBQ, a Kansas City tradition since 1957. We have planned a wonderful evening of Christmas lights with a great local guide. The tour includes four Christmas in the Park displays. We stay at the Drury Inn for one night. Day 2: Breakfast is served at our hotel before heading to Branson. We stop along the way for lunch. Our Branson expe- rience starts with Daniel O’Donnell. After the show we check into the Radisson Hotel where we will stay for three nights. Dinner is at Wildwood Bistro. After dinner we board a motor coach for Hamners’ Unbelievable Va- riety Show. Day 3: First up today is All Hands On Deck at Andy Williams Performing Arts Center. Then to the Branson Craft Mall to grab lunch on your own. Next, the coach departs for the Titanic Museum. Dinner is at the IMAX Complex and McFarlains Family Restaurant. Lastly, we head to the Sight and Sound Theatre for the production of Samson. Day 4: Our first stop today will be a morning production by The Brett Family Singers. Next, we will go to the College of the Ozarks to enjoy a fabulous lunch at the Keeter Center. We have a guided tour of the Branson area. Dinner will be served at Dolly Parton’s Dixie Stampede. Our final show of the trip is Million Dollar Quartet. We head home the next day.
