The Tony Award-winning Roald Dahl’s Matilda The Musical is a captivating masterpiece that revels in the anarchy of childhood, the power of imagination and the inspiring story of a girl who dreams of a better life. Matilda is a little girl with astonishing wit, intelligence, and psychokinetic powers. She’s unloved by her cruel parents but impresses her schoolteacher, the highly loveable Miss Honey. Over the course of her first term at school, Matilda and Miss Honey have a profound effect on each other’s lives. Matilda’s school life isn’t completely smooth sailing, however – the school’s mean headmistress, Miss Trunchbull, hates children and just loves thinking up new punishments for those who don’t abide by her rules. Our Lady of the Mississippi Abbey is a monastery of Cistercian (Trappist) nuns situated on a beautiful bluff overlooking the Mississippi river south of Dubuque, IA. A community of 22 Roman Catholic women who try to follow Jesus Christ through a life of prayer, silence, simplicity, and ordinary work. Join Connections Club to meet with Sr. Christine as she shows us a power point about their lifestyle. Sr. will give us time for question, and time at the gift shop for candy purchasing. We conclude with prayer. We are invited to stay and enjoy free time to look around and take in the beauty of this mag- nificent area. This event is free of charge, however, space is limited, call to make your reservation.
