Good Morning Everyone,

I’m writing my message to you on a cold February morning, five below zero on the thermometer to be exact. I hope as you are reading this, the day is a little warmer, and thoughts of spring are making you smile. Speaking of that smile, I hope it appears as you read through my Journal and see the many offerings we have put together. I can’t wait for things to start picking up a bit. I need to see all of you more often. Super excited I was able to secure tickets for the 57th Annual Country Music Awards (CMA’s) in Nashville this November. I also reserved space for the Club on a brand-new super yacht - it looks spectacular I can’t wait to show you. I started a little mini-series this year. Last Journal we offered “Conversations with Connie.” This May we are going to do “Cards with Connie” Do I have any card players in the Club? I will find out soon enough won’t I! Mums the word, but next time may be “Cookies with Connie.” Did you know my favorite breakfast is a chocolate chip cookie and a diet coke? If you travel with me, you know this for sure. Some people collect shot glasses, magnets, or t-shirts. I collect memories of the amazing chocolate chip cookies I eat on tour. Crazy huh! We are also starting a “In Our Own Backyard” series which highlights places of interest close to home. There is so much to appreciate in the Tri-State area. Come explore with us! It is often said to escape the grind you have to leave home.

Ken Ludwig’s A Fox On The Fairway Sunday, April 30, 2023, 2:00 p.m. Bell Tower Theater 2728 Asbury Road, Dubuque, IA

Set sail with this classic musical comedy that boasts one of the most famous patter songs in musical theater history. Since its founding in 1974, the company, The New York Gilbert & Sullivan Players, has presented over 2,000 performances throughout the United States. This tale features a band of tender-hearted pirates celebrating the coming of age of Frederic, mistakenly apprenticed to the pirates until his 21st birthday. A leap year snag threatens to keep him apprenticed to the pirates for life! Throw in a bevy of beauties, a brash Pirate King, the delightfully stuffy Major- General Stanley and you’ve got what The New York Times calls, “An endearing production with high musical standards and spirited performances.” Your Connections Club price is just $40 per person, due at reservation.

When two rival country clubs get involved in the golf tournament of the decade, things go from bad to worse! Enjoy the fun as these zany characters do whatever it takes to save face, win their bets and get their love lives in order. Your Connections Club price is just $19 per person, due at registration.

The Wizard of Oz you know and love - except that the characters are live on stage and in full color. Oh, and everyone dances the whole time! Based on both the book and the classic 1939 movie, The Wizard of Oz brings Frank Baum’s unforgettable story to life with a ballet twist. As Dorothy, Toto, and their three Ozian friends search for a brain, a heart, some nerve, and a path back to Kansas, they encounter munchkins, monkeys, and witches. But while the Yellow Brick Road may be a familiar path, the clicking red shoes take a few unexpected steps here and there. Choreographer Erin Alarcón [let] her imagination run free in this original ballet. She blended roles for the company’s professional dancers with parts for 50- plus young guest dancers from the Dubuque area, led by the Academy of Ballet.
