First-Time Homebuyer Savings
T his account was created by the Iowa Legislature to help Iowans save for their first home. It includes provisions that allow individuals to make tax-deductible contributions into an account to be used by the account owner(s) to save for a first home. It only takes $50 to open and no minimum balance is required. You can earn 1.50% APY* up to $20,000. Any balance above $20,000 earns 0.20% APY. There is no maximum deposit amount, and no limit to the number of deposits you can make. One withdrawal is allowed per account, the first withdrawal closes the account and a check is issued for the purchase of your home. First-Time Homebuyer Savings Account owners can get a $500 discount on an American Trust mortgage.
Account holders may exclude from their Iowa adjusted gross income yearly deposits into First-Time Homebuyer Savings Accounts in amounts up to $2,000 a year. Married taxpayers who file a joint return may exclude up to $4,000 a year if the account is opened and maintained as a joint account. Account holders are responsible to provide a transaction report to the Iowa Department of Revenue when funds are withdrawn.

Special Events
J oin us for a special Halloween event at the National Mississippi River Museum & Aquarium. Enjoy trick-or-treating around the wetlands, science experi- ments, live animal programs, and other hands-on activities. The majority of the event will be held indoors, costumes are encouraged, and food and beverages will be available for purchase. The museum store will be open all evening. The NMRMA is wheel chair and stroller accessible. The event is for all ages and is a non-scary, family-fun experience for children 12-years old and younger. All children must be accompanied by an adult. Cost is $5.00 per person age three and older. $4.00 for members. Junior Bankers and parents get in free! Tickets are purchased at the door. F ighting Saints hockey is back! We’re happy to once again partner with the Saints to bring all of the exciting action and family fun to fans in the Tri-State area and beyond. A merican Trust & Savings Bank is sponsoring the “Reach for A Star” program for the fifteenth consecutive year. This program provides the Dubuque community an opportunity to brighten the holiday season for needy Dubuque-area senior citizens. Area residents may participate by visiting any Dubuque American Trust location and choose a gold star from the holiday display. Each star contains the “Christmas wish list” of an area senior. The wish list includes items the senior citizen needs or would like to receive this holiday. Anyone “reaching for a star” is asked to purchase one or more items listed on the star. To ensure delivery by Christmas, gifts should be wrapped and returned to an A merican Trust values and rewards employees who go above and beyond in their jobs every day. Employees are nominated by other employees and a committee selects the Professional of the Month. At the end of the year, employees who have been chosen as Professional of the Month are eligible to be Professional of the Year. Professionals Of The Month Reach For A Star
