Hello from Connie

Hello Everyone,

Summer is here. I’m receiving more calls frommany of you each day which makes me so happy. We have been able to start our adventures again and that also brings me such joy. A little piece of normal. I read an article about what to expect as we start going again. There was a section titled “Our Time” that stood out to me and I felt it fitting to Connections Club and the waking up of travel. We were created to be in community with others. The article touches on how some couples are blessed to spend what seems like a lifetime with their spouses but still thrive in an environment with others when traveling. A woman once journeyed to Italy’s Amalfi Coast. The ancient villages clinging to the mountainside are achingly beautiful, but she didn’t enjoy them because she traveled alone. Connections Club travel is the perfect solution in many situations. The common desire to seek knowledge, to be immersed in history and view breathtaking scenery is just a toe dip into the sea of possibilities. This is “Our Time.” P.S.—Please take a minute to review the new qualifications on page 4. MidWest One Bank has awesome products and services*. I have my entire banking relationship here and could not be happier. Please seek the advice of your favorite banker and make sure you are in the right accounts to fit your needs. The Power Checking and Power Saving accounts are amazing. I love the investment** team who happily take my many questions as I know their experience far exceeds my knowledge. Take a look at the mortgage rates and home equity specials to see if you need a change. My best piece of banking advice is to review often and take ad- vantage of the professionals at your fingertips. We are eager to serve and commit- ted to our mission statement– take care of our customers and those who should be. We’re transitioning away from the paper copy of our Connections Club journal. Many of you already enjoy the electronic version that we send by email. For those receiving a paper copy, we will start emailing the electronic version to you. Our goal is to have this new process in place by January 1, 2022. Thank you in advance for your patience and understanding as we make a few necessary changes to assure the future success of our club. **Not FDIC Insured | No Bank Guarantee | May Lose Value | Not a Deposit | Not Insured by any Federal government Agency

Disenchanted Wednesday, October 27, 2021 Circa ‘21, Rock Island, IL

Poisoned apples, glass slippers ...Who needs ’em?! Not Snow White and her posse of disenchanted princesses in the hilarious, naughty hit musical that’s anything but Grimm. Cinderella is kind of a nitwit, Snow White can be a little mean, and Sleeping Beauty? Narcoleptic, apparently. In this musical comedy for grown-ups, the trio lead an all-princess revue aimed at upending their popular portrayals. When the princesses rail against princes who expect them to do all [the] housework, the show feels like a girls’-night-out retro rebellion for the suburban oppressed. Forget the princesses you think you know —these royal renegades tossed off their tiaras to set the record straight and bring their hilariously subversive, not-for-the-kiddies musical to you. What you thought you knew about princesses will never be the same! Your Connections Club price is just $93 per person and includes transportation from Dubuque, plated lunch with dessert, show, and driver’s gratuity. Full payment, refundable until September 20, 2021, is due with registration.

Missing Word Contest: Our Missing Word Contest winner for May/June was Joyce Schroeder, who received a check for $25. The missing word was “Up” and the song title was “You Light Up My Life” by Debby Boone. We have hidden another song title with a missing word in this issue. Read your Connections Club newsletter carefully, looking for any words enclosed in [brackets] like this. Rearrange the words to form the title or extended title of a popular song. One word will be missing. Figure out the missing word, and write the missing word only on the Missing Word Contest form found below. All correct entries received prior to the deadline indicated on the form are entered into the $25 drawing. Odds of winning are dependent upon number of entries. All entries received throughout the year are entered into a year- end drawing for a grand prize of $100! Good luck!
