ing me on a trip to Spain and the Canary Islands for thirteen days in January. I invite you to celebrate the seasons with me in a variety of places. We are going to experi- ence spring on our Sensational Washington tour where we will be greeted with a tulip festival that is only rivaled by the Netherlands. Say “oui” (yes in French) to join- ing us this summer on our Paris to Normandy river cruise. It’s the 75th anniversary of “D” Day! We will drive through the streets of Nor- mandy, visit Omaha Beach, The American Cemetery, and so much more. This river cruise is sure to “wow” you with its amazing accommodations and the variety of choices offered. We are going to spend some time this fall in New England with our Inn Style - Foliage Brilliance tour. We visit many attractions, regions and cities in Massachusetts, Maine, New Hampshire, and Vermont. Who says you can’t have it all? I say you can! Please call me soon to say “Hi” and reserve space on some of our upcoming adventures.

I mentioned lately how much I [love] travel- ing with all of my AmeriClub friends? All of the above questions are actually facts. Words of thanks are just not adequate to truly express my gratitude. I always find myself doing a lot of reflecting as we end one year and start a new one. It has been my pleasure working with all of the wonderful individuals that have crossed my path in one way or another. We recently returned from our tour in Branson, MO. We had an amazing time. We had a pretty busy itinerary and saw many outstanding performances and attractions. The constant theme throughout the week was that of thankfulness, family, and patriotism. Branson is such a “feel good” kind of place. Motor coach transportation is the way to go in Branson because they are so good with groups. A representative from the different theaters came on to the motor coach to greet us and many times it was one of the actual performers we were coming to see. We were dropped off at the front door and escorted to our seats. I love the changing of the seasons in the Midwest. We have a very different landscape and climate in each. I’m always sur- prised when we visit places that would seem to have very dramatic weather only to find out our Iowa winters have them beat. O n day one we transfer to the air- port for our flight to Seattle, Washington. Upon arrival we will travel to the waterfront town of La Conner where we will check into the La Conner Country Inn for two nights. A welcome dinner is included at the Oyster & Thistle Restaurant. (D) Day 2: Today we journey into the heart of Washington’s Skagit Valley for their annual Tulip Festival! Only the Netherlands produces more tulips than the Skagit Valley. Tulip Town will be our first stop offering a variety of display gardens including a 10-acre field planted in stripes of color, and a trolley ride around the fields. Next we visit Roozen- Gaarde, the largest tulip farm in the United States. Lunch is included at the Calico Cup- board Café & Bakery in Anacortes. The rest of the afternoon and evening are free for you to explore delightful La Conner. (B, L) Day 3: This morning we board the Chinook, our private motor yacht, for a cruise through San Juan Islands. These beautiful islands are located off the scenic Pacific Northwest Coast. Our final destination of the day is Orcas Island which is the largest island in the San Juan chain. Here we will check into the world class Rosario Resort & Spa. our way to Friday Harbor. Friday Harbor is filled with interesting shops and artist gal- leries, and is home to the only museum devoted to Orca whales. Our ultimate destina- tion today is Vancouver Island. We will take a short walk to the Inn at Laurel Point, a lovely ocean-side resort, where we will check in for one night. (B, L) Day 5: Our day begins with a city tour. Then enjoy Butchart Gardens, 55 acres of the world’s most magnificent gardens. There will be time to enjoy all of the beauty before we depart for the Fairmont Empress Hotel. You’ll feel like you’ve stepped back in time as we experience an authentic Victorian High Tea. We’ll be treated to live music, tableside tea service and delicious English sandwiches and pastries in this stunning hotel. Then it’s back to Victoria harbor to board the Victoria Clipper, a high-speed catamaran, for our trip to Seattle. As we travel through Puget Sound and into the Strait of Juan de Fuca, we’ll see the majestic Olympic Mountains and quaint seaside villages. Upon arrival in Seattle, we will check into the Crowne Plaza for one night. D ay 1: Montreal. Today we arrive in Montreal. Old in soul, but young at heart, Montréal has a storied past that includes First Nations settlement, French colony and a British stronghold. Montréal has blossomed into one of the world’s most modern and dynamic metropolises. See its European heri- tage shining through in the beautiful 18th- century buildings and cobblestone streets. (D) Day 2: Montreal. Today we explore the rest of the city including a visit to our first shrine–Saint Joseph’s Oratory. Founded in 1904, Saint Joseph’s is the largest shrine in the world dedicated to Saint Joseph. Our day continues with a visit to the Olympic Park and Botanical Gardens. Rediscover the history of the Olympic Park since the Games were here in 1976. The Montréal Botanical Garden, one of the city’s jewels, is recognized as one of the world’s greatest. Tonight we enjoy dinner with entertainment at a traditional “Sugar Shack” or Sucrerie. (B, D, E) Day 3: Trois Riviere. Today we leave Montreal for Quebec City along the St. Law- rence River. We visit the lovely village of Trois Riviere (three rivers) for lunch and visit the second of our five shrines of Quebec. Our Lady of the Cape Shrine is Canada’s National Shrine to the “Blessed Mother.” Lastly, we travel to Quebec City, UNESCOWorld Heri- tage site. We’ll walk its cobblestone streets before checking into our hotel for two nights and enjoying dinner together. (B, D) Day 4: Quebec City. Today we visit the Plains of Abraham, the site of many clashes for supremacy between the French and British, the park is the scene of the 1759

Conquest, which changed the fate of North America. We have time for shopping and strolling the cafes around lunch time and visit the Petit Champlain quarter. While there we visit the third shrine. The Basilica-Cathedral Notre-Dame de Québec is now an Historical Monument of Québec and Canada and stands in the Historic District of Old Québec, part of the World Heritage List of UNESCO. It stands out as the first cathedral, the cradle of French civilization and the Catholic faith to be founded north of Mexico. This afternoon we take a short ride out of town along the St. Lawrence River to Montmorency Falls and visit our fourth shrine, the Shrine of Sainte-Anne-de-Beaupré, the second oldest pilgrimage site in North America. It’s dedicated to Saint Anne, grandmother of Jesus Christ. Dinner is on our own. (B) Day 5: Saguenay. Today we head north to Lac Saint-Jean and the Saguenay river. On the way, we will immerse ourselves in the tradi- tions of the Huron-Wendat Nation inWendake. Then on to the last shrine in the woods of northern Quebec. It’s located at Lac-Bouchette, Ermitage Saint-Antoine de Lac-Bouchette. Then onto the Kingdom of Saguenay-Lac- Saint-Jean! Lake Saint-Jean is a huge inland fresh-water sea with more than 210 km of mostly sandy shoreline and surrounded by vast fields of wild blueberries. (B, D) Day 6: Fjord Cruise. Today we take to the sea! We cruise the incredible Saguenay Fjords from Saguenay to L’anse-Saint-Jean. The 62 mile long Saguenay Fjord is the south- ernmost navigable fjord in North America. We will view majestic cliff faces and small

villages on either side of the river. We take time for lunch on our own before driving back to Quebec City for our final night. Enjoy a special farewell dinner in Old Quebec. (B, D) Day 7: We will have time for touring and shopping in Old Quebec. This afternoon we will board our flight in Que- bec City for home. (B) Tour cost is $3,964 double occupancy, $4,694 for single, and includes six nights accommodations, baggage handling of one large suitcase per person, all attraction admis- sions and fees as outlined in the itinerary, applicable lodging and meal taxes and gratuities, seven days professional guide service, seven days deluxe motor coach transportation, 11 meals: six breakfast and five dinners, gratuities for the professional tour guide and motor coach driver, comprehensive Travel Insurance. O n our first day we travel to the Chicago airport for our overnight flight to Paris. Day 2: Paris, France. Our Avalon Waterways Suite Ship ® is ready for Boarding. Get acquainted with the City of Lights today with some shopping, strolling, or with a croissant and café au lait to watch the world go by amid the Parisian cityscape. Overnight cruise this evening to Vernon. (D) Day 3: Vernon. Start the day with a guided tour of Giverny, home and inspiration of the master impressionist painter Claude Monet. Walk the grounds and see Monet’s charming residence, and the flower and water gardens captured in his masterpieces, or join a guided visit to Bizy Castle–called “Normandy’s Versailles” for its magnificent courtyard, water garden, and stables. While sailing, enjoy a traditional French lunch of authentic French crêpes, followed by a pas- try demonstration. This afternoon, enjoy a beautiful cruise to the picturesque town of Les Andelys. Take a guided walking tour of one of France’s most picturesque spots on the Seine, or join a guided hike up to the castle ruins of Château Gaillard–historic home of King Richard the Lionheart. Overnight cruise this evening to Caudebec. (B, L, D) Day 4: Caudebec. See the churches, cherry Orchards, and white cliffs of Normandy. Enjoy live entertainment tonight on our ship as we cruise to Rouen. (B, L, D) Day 6: Rouen. Take a guided walking tour of Rouen–home of the martyred Joan of Arc–and see the medieval quarter with its 16th- century Astronomical Clock, and Notre-Dame Cathedral. of Napoléon Bonaparte and his wife Josephine. Perhaps, join a guided optional excursion to the Palace of Versailles–home to a suc- cession of French kings. Overnight cruise to Paris this evening. (B, L, D) Day 8: Paris. Take a guided walking tour through the heart of Paris to see the historic Île St. Louis, Île de la Cité, and Notre-Dame Cathedral, or join a guided city tour that shows you iconic sites such as the Louvre Museum, the Arc de Triomphe, the Eiffel Tower, Opéra Garnier, and the famous Champs-Élysées. Stroll through Paris on your own, or linger over wine in a literary café on the Left Bank. We dock in Paris for the night. (B, L, D) Day 9: Paris. We disem- bark our ship and travel home. O n day one we will fly into Boston’s Logan airport. Our Tour Guide and deluxe Motorcoach will greet us upon arrival. Depending on time we may do some Boston touring before heading to our hotel for the next two nights. Day 2: Boston. Today we enjoy a city tour of Boston, the capital and largest city in Massachusetts and one of the nation’s oldest cities spanning a history of 350 years in a distance of less than three miles. We have free time for lunch on our own in the 150 year-old restored buildings of the famous Quincy Market, which faces Faneuil Hall and houses a cheerful and colorful confusion of chic shops, specialty pushcart vendors, cafes, restaurants, and street performers. We will see the famous Freedom Trail winding its way through the downtown area and many historic sites including the Old State House, Faneuil Hall, the Boston Commons and the Public Gardens. We stay in Boston for the night. (B, D) Day 3: Maine to NH. After break- fast we are off to Maine and to our next two nights in the lakes and mountains of New Hampshire. We travel along the Massachu- setts and New Hampshire coastlines. [Stop] in the seaside village of York to enjoy a traditional Maine Clam (Lobster) Bake; clam chowder, clams, mussels, lobster (or Hickory BBQ chicken), corn on the cob, and potatoes– a real New England tradition. Kancamagus Highway, one of New England’s most spectacular scenic highways to witness the fall foliage season. We spend the night at the Omni Mount Washington Hotel with dinner on our own. (B, Lobster Lunch) Day 4: NH to Vermont. This morn- ing we will take the Cog Railway to the top of Mount Washington where we can see four states–Maine, Massachusetts, Vermont and New Hampshire. Then we head through the north country into Vermont and to Montpe- lier where we will see the gold-leafed dome of the Capitol Building, and the Morse Farm Sugar Shack. Our hotel for the next two nights is in Essex Junction, Vermont. Dinner is included this evening. (B, D) Day 5: Vermont. We travel to Bur- lington and the Stowe area to the Vermont Teddy Bear Company, we dare you to visit the gift shop and not buy one. Lunch is on our own in downtown Burlington, then on to Waterbury for a couple of great afternoon culinary experiences. First the Cold Hollow Cider Mill, then to the famous Ben & Jerry’s ice cream plant. This evening we take a din- ner cruise on Lake Champlain. (B, D) Day 6: Sturbridge, Massachusetts. This morning our destination is Sturbridge Village a post revolutionary living history village. Along the way we will enjoy a visit to the Yankee Candle Shoppe. A trip to Old Sturbridge Village, the largest outdoor history museum in the Northeast, is a journey through time to a rural New England town of the 1830s. researched, restored, and brought to the museum site from towns throughout New England. This evening for our farewell dinner we’ll enjoy an authentic New England dining experience. (B, D) Day 7: Today we drive back to Boston and fly home from our New England Fall Foli- age tour with many fine memories of a bygone era. Depending on our flight time, we may have time to enjoy touring enroute back to Boston. (B) Per person price is $3,349 for double occupancy, $4,179 for single. A s I had mentioned in my letter, we had a wonderful time in Branson, so I wanted to share our group photo and some comments from a few of our happy travellers. I hope to travel with you very soon! Thank you for another amazing AmeriClub trip! Your professionalism was spotless...especially with the power outage challenges. And the wonderfulness of AmeriClub made the entire trip enjoyable. Our Branson adventure was great! We look forward to travelling again Thank you sooo much for everything you did to make this the most enjoyable bus trip we ’ ve ever had! You handled whatever “ blips ” there were, most graciously. What a wonderful trip we had to Branson! You definitely are the hostess with the mostess...you were gracious, vivacious, caring and kind.
